HomeSource Custom Homes for over 35 years been the innovative leader in custom home building in the St. Louis bi-state region. In order to enhance their product line and in response to customer inquiries, HomeSource has announced that they are now an approved dealer of EZ Log Structures by Tene Kaubandus of Estonia, Europe’s leading producer of interlocking do-it-yourself building kits.
EZ Log Structures offers a variety of products, including garden houses, hunting/fishing cabins, and affordable houses. The wood species used is kiln-dried engineered northern spruce in exterior wall widths from 2 ¼” to 2 ¾”, considered one of the most stable woods for log construction. All trees are harvested from ecologically managed forests in Estonia and the surrounding regions. The interlocking joints and corners ensure an air-tight structure. The kits consist of pre-cut numbered wall logs, wood windows with solid core wood doors, interior walls, purlins, vaulted ceilings, T & G ceiling boards, T & G wall boards for insulated walls, base trims, window and door trims, hardware, fascia trims and stainless steel storm rods, drilled electrical chases, packaged and ready to assemble on a concrete slab or wood sub floor.
This exciting new EZ Log Structures’ product offers an energy efficient eco green construction option for customers who need a more affordable home at significant savings compared to traditional log cabin construction. The homes will meet the most stringent codes for earthquake and wind zones and can be modified to meet any local building codes. The thermal mass rating of a 2 ¾” exterior wall is R-12, which can be increased to an overall R-25 with the addition of R-13 batt insulation. Best of all, the homes can be customized to meet your needs – including taller ceiling heights, steeper pitched roofs, and adding more windows or doors.
Home designs range from approximately 300 to 1,000 square feet of living space with pricing ranging from the approximately $18,000 to the upper $60,000’s. Many plans have spacious covered porches extending the living space to the outdoors. Depending on the size, the do-it-yourself kits can be assembled in 1 – 4 days by two men, resulting in nominal labor costs compared to conventional building techniques. The finished interiors features warm, inviting wood walls and ceilings, with the option to have T & G spruce wood floors. Depending on whether they are used as a full time residence or as a weekend getaway cabin, they can be outfitted with a wood-burning stove for warmth or window unit air conditioner for cooling.
These affordable building kits make the perfect cabin or affordable home. Possible uses include primary residences, cottages for the lake property, guest homes, in-law suites, hunting and fishing cabins, rental cabins for resorts and parks, church camps and much more. Most plans feature a living room, kitchen, 1 – 3 bedrooms, and bath. Lofts can be added to ranch plans with an increase in roof pitch, expanding the interior space even further.
